Yep, that’s us – sometimes called chicks who click or MWAC – mom with a camera – or just plain Annoying!!! That’s who we are, that’s how we roll and we are proud of it!! So let’s get better at it. We can learn from each other and have fun all at the same time.
Capturing memories is one of the fastest growing hobbies and new business opportunities in the world today. It isn’t just about you when you are taking photos it is about the person you are shooting and about remembering. That being said, I also believe that our photos should be giving glory to God. For His bounty, His creation and for the lives He has given us to give praise to Him and to share His love with others. That’s why I do what I do. I am sure that each of you is here to be better at doing the very same thing. I have been on this journey for many years and have learned so much and had so much fun I want to share whatever I have learned with other moms and grand-moms.
We will meet on the first Thursday of each month and share our ideas and new found knowledge. (I for sure won’t be the only one sharing after today!) Each month the one who is sharing with all of us will offer a challenge to practice what you have learned. We will come back the month and show off our 4 best works of art. Sound like fun? You bet!!
Any questions each week? Email me at email@example.com and I will try to find an answer for you.
Auto mode allows your camera to make the call on what settings to use and does it…automatically. The camera makes it’s best judgment when it comes to ISO, aperture, focus, white balance and your flash. Your camera will do it’s best to capture what you see and you more times than not, get a decent image.
This mode is great when you want the beautiful and much coveted sharp focus on a near object with the background out of focus. Portrait is best used on one subject that you want to get in close to and almost fill your frame. You will LOVE this mode if you have never used it this way before.
This one is sometimes called “sports” or “pets” mode because of the action you are trying to capture. This mode works well in great sunlight!!!
Use this to capture large outdoor pictures or photos of large groups. It keeps the whole frame in focus so that no one is blurred out. This is a great vacation mode for those beautiful places you visit and of weddings.
To be used for focusing on the details. Babydoll toes and pretty butterflys. This one moves slowly so be very still OR (my recommendation) use a tripod.
This is another one that moves slowly so use a tripod or set your camera on something DON’T TOUCH IT!! This a good one to use with a remote control or to set your timer
Aperture Priority lets you pick your depth of field or Aperture
S or TV – Shutter Priority lets you pick your shutter speed or how fast the shutter opens and shuts. You want to use this for sports.
Program is not offered on all cameras but it is much like Auto but does allow you some wiggle room with your settings. Check your manual to see what you can change.
Pick 2 Modes you have never used before and USE them. Bring back 4 images on a flash drive that are your best and we will throw them up on a screen and take a peek.
Don’t be afraid – have fun and remember – delete the bad ones! (we’ll never know there were 300 of them!!)
See you November 4, 2010 at 6:00, right here.
