Chris Ellis, Children’s Director

Chris grew up on a farm near King City. She attended church with her family, though not on a regular basis. Vacation Bible School was one of her favorite summertime activities, as she always had the opportunity to attend two Bible Schools. At the age of eleven, she accepted Christ into her life, and was baptized shortly after. In 1989 she married Steve, her high school sweetheart. She graduated from college in 1992 with a degree in social work, and they began their family the same year. They now have three children, Kayla, Rachel, and Jacob .

Her love for the Lord really began to grow and flourish in her mid 20’s, as she rededicated her life to the Lord during this time. A few years later, God called Steve and Chris into the ministry. The Lord took them to First Baptist Church in Oregon, Missouri, where Steve served as pastor. They were there from 1998 – 2005. In the fall of 2005 they began attending Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. In 2006, their youngest accepted Christ, and the five of them became members of Frederick Boulevard. Since that time Chris has worked in the nursery, and Steve and Chris team taught a Sunday School class for 3rd through 5th grades. Chris has always loved working with children, and has spent many years teaching VBS, Sunday School, as well as serving as a “coach” at the St. Joseph Baptist Association’s Children’s Camp for nearly 10 years. She has served on the Associational Children’s Committee since 1999.

The Lord has taught Chris many lessons over the years. She has learned to seek His will, wait on Him, and that His way really is the best way! Psalm 37:4 is one of her favorite verses, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Chris loves how this verse is so true, and it amazes her to see how He actually changes the desires of her heart. When she witnesses this first hand, she knows God is in control of her life; He loves her, and has a plan for her. Chris is trying to live her life according to His will regarding the position of Children’s Ministry Director here at Frederick.
